The Joe Bruno Golden Gate is Sunday, August 23. When Joe started swimming the Golden Gate, there was no bridge, so he did it the only way one could.
The jump is at 7:25 AM, so get ready for an early morning. Check In: 5:15 AM-5:55 AM, Pilot Briefing: 6:00 AM, Swim Briefing: 6:15 AM, Walk to Boats: 6:35 AM, Boats Depart: 6:55 AM, Jump from Boats: 7:25 AM, then climb back onto boats at the end of the swim, no later than 8:25 AM.
There is a $20 boat fee. The two boats have capacity for 85 swimmers. There is no capacity for guests on the boats. The boat fee for swimmers will be collected at Check In.
If you sign up, and do not cancel by emailing DolphinSwimCommissioner@Gmail.com at least 24 hours before the event, you will pay the $20 boat fee.
If you are unsure if you can swim, sign up under “Tentative.” We will have a Waitlist for any swimmers over 85. First come, first served at Check-In for Waitlist and Tentative swimmers.
This swim has a 60-minute time limit.
We will have a boat for kayaks and kayakers, so please sign up to kayak. This is an amazing swim to pilot by kayak.
To do this swim, you must be a USMS member for 2015, have paid your 2015 DC swim dues, and have 3 “Qualifying” swims and 2 “Helps” in the 2015 season. No exceptions to these requirements will be allowed. Coghlan Beach is your last chance for a Qualifying Swim and Help, prior to GG.
This is one of our two hallmark swims and one of our biggest. If you aren’t swimming it, we have many needs for helpers. Timers and Clothes Monitors will be on the boats and ride free.
