The 2015-2016 Polar Bear has begun. The Polar Bear runs from 5:00 AM on December 21, 2015 to 11:00 PM on March 21, 2016. The squares are up in their usual spot, so break out the colored pencils, get in the water, and get artistic with your miles. To complete the Polar Bear, those under 60 must swim at least 40 miles. Those over 60 (“Old Goats”) must swim at least 20 miles. The Club record is 356 miles. If you complete the Polar Bear, you will receive a white marble block with your miles on it (if this is your first Polar Bear, you will get a little polar bear to go on top of the block) at the Pilots Appreciation Dinner. The forecast for this winter is rain, but the rain is warmer than the water, so come on down. If you are swimming outside of the Bay Area, any water 55 degrees F (or colder!) counts towards your miles, unless you are trying for First to 40, which must be completed in the Cove.
