2020-2021 Penguin Challenge

As a club, we have been presented with many challenges this year and have adapted. Given the additional challenge of swimming through the winter with no sauna or swimming from the bleachers with no hot shower or sauna, I am proposing an adaptation to the Polar Bear Challenge. It will be called the Penguin Challenge. Winter swimming brings about a lot of chatter about time-in-the-water so let’s start tracking it.

This Winter season needs a time challenge as well as a distance challenge and I am willing to keep score for the Penguin Challenge. Yes, you can still fill in and talk about your squares but instead of each square representing ¼ mile, each square represents 15 minutes. And instead of a 40 mile goal, the goal is 20 hours. 

Only cold water swims count. Challenge begins December 21 , 2020 at 12:01am and ends at midnight on March 21, 2021.

Awards will be given to those who swam 10+ hours and those who swam 20+ hours. 

Because the emphasis of this Penguin Challenge is on just getting in the water and meeting your personal goals and not on who had the most time in the water, results are listed alphabetically. To their credit, 59 Dolphins participated in this first Penguin Challenge.
