New Year’s Day Alcatraz QUALIFIER – Sunday December 16

Sign-up sheets have been posted for the New Year’s Day Alcatraz Qualifier, on Sunday, December 16.  You must complete the qualifier in order to swim the Alcatraz New Year’s Day swim.  This swim is a safety check to make sure you can handle the cold water for the length of time necessary to complete an Alcatraz swim.  The course will be an Inside-Outside and Cove.  That means swimming inside the Breakwater to Creakers and then back outside the Breakwater to the opening and continuing with a counter clockwise cove from the opening in to the DC/SC beach.

Here is the schedule:

Sign In                                  8:15-9:00 am

Briefing and Roll Call        9:10

Jump                                     9:30

A swimmer fee will be collected at the Qualifier (we are verifying the amount and will let you know asap) to cover the New Year’s Day boat ride, trinket and breakfast.  Please make checks payable to Dolphin Club.

The actual New Year’s Day swim will be limited to 100 people:  50 from each club.  The first 50 to sign up for the New Year’s Day Swim will be in. After that we will begin a wait list.

South End’s Qualifier is Saturday, December 15, and Dolphins are welcome to join theirs if that date works better for you.  See below for details.

You will need to have proof of 2019 USMS registration to participate on New Year’s Day.
