Join us for Quadapalooza – Sat, July 20

Four seat coastal rowing races on San Francisco Bay were once a big deal. Teams from around the Bay Area would compete in a series of regattas at local clubs. Sometimes they’d be huge events that could draw crowds of thousands.

In 2024 we’ve resurrected this tradition with races between SERC and DC in our new coastal Quads. Each regatta has six races: older men; older women; middle-aged men; middle-aged women and then juniors. Our first event ‘Quadageddon’ was held in May just as a late season storm was passing over. Quadstravaganza was held in June. After 12 races, Dolphins have won six, and SERC have won six!

On July 20, BIAC will be coming up from Redwood City to join us for Quadapalooza. And we’re still hoping we might get a guest entry from Marin or OWRC.

Race Course *NEW*

For this event the starting line will be from an ANCHORED committee boat 500’ off the entrance to Aquatic Park. The course will run west from the start, around the YRA Perkins ‘6’ buoy, east around a temporary downwind mark, and then back to the finish.

There will be a strong flood on the morning of July 20 just to make it more fun. Total Distance: 2000m

For landlubbers, the best place to watch is the end of the pier at Fort Mason. Rowers can row back out from DC & SERC rowing clubs in singles and doubles to cheer your teams on!.

Swimmers can also watch from the opening, but exercise caution as the boats come in. We’ll do the same for you!

Mark Roundings
