Our 73 club swimmers had to good fortune of a calm, mostly sunny day to swim under the Golden Gate. The USS Cape St. George surprised us with a last minute delay. We’d been expecting to swim after it passed through, but before the next inbound tanker. With this delay we now suddenly needed to jump our swim before its imminent arrival. None of the pilots wanted to face down a guided missile cruiser, so we decided to play it safe and start further north than usual. That got us clear of the channel by the time it came through. Thank you to all the pilots and volunteers who made the swim possible. We had a beautiful day!
