Motorized Training

Motorized Training

Our motor boats are primarily to be used for club activities which mainly revolve around supporting swims, and sometimes rowing events.

Initial Orientation

This guide covers the orientation to how to prepare, launch, operate, and recover our motor boats. After this orientation, you’ll be a trainee pilot, and may join club swims and test swims in motorized craft.

The operator is a legal term for the person in charge of the boat. There should be one person designated as the operator on a voyage. The operator should be a certified pilot, and is the one responsible for the safe operation of the boat, its equipment, passengers and the Rules of Navigation.

Neglecting any precaution in the safe operation of a boat-including its equipment-is a violation of California boating law and of Coast Guard regulations. This could spill over into the Civil Courts.
In court of law, the person at the helm can be held responsible even if the person at the helm is in training
